Dr. Catherine Frenette joined Scripps Transplant Center in 2012 as medical director of liver transplantation. In addition to seeing patients who need pre- and post- liver transplant care, she treats people with a variety of liver and biliary diseases including hepatitis B, cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, autoimmune hepatitis, and hemochromatosis.
Prior to joining Scripps, Dr. Frenette was medical director of liver transplantation and director of the hepatocellular carcinoma program at The Methodist Hospital in Houston. She also spent five years with the transplant program at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, where she held numerous roles including medical director of the transplantation outreach program in Las Vegas.
After obtaining her medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago, Dr. Frenette completed a residency in internal medicine at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego and a fellowship in gastroenterology and Hepatology at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, Calif.
Dr. Frenette’s research has been presented nationally and published in numerous scientific and medical journals. Additionally, she is a member of many professional organizations including the American Society of Transplantation, the American Gastroenterology Association, and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
