Chair of the Radiation Oncology Unit Breast Working Party (BWP) at the Florence University Hospital/Breast Unit, Italy

Icro Meattini was born in Florence in 1980. He completed medical studies in 2005, and got the Specialization in Radiation Oncology in 2009 at the University of Florence (Italy). He was involved in the Methods and Advanced Equipment for Simulation and Treatment in Radio Oncology (MAESTRO) European research project at Florence University for risk-assessment in radiotherapy (2006), and performed a fellowship at the Radiation Oncology Unit of the Royal Marsden Hospital, London (UK, 2008).

He became Consultant at the Radiation Oncology Unit of the University Florence Hospital in 2011, where actually works as Clinical Oncologist; he is Chair of the Radiation Oncology Unit Breast Working Party (BWP) at the Florence University Hospital/Breast Unit. His major fields of interest are radiation therapy development, clinical trials, biological and systemic treatments, and breast cancer research. He published more than 80 papers in peer-reviewed international Journals. Active member of the European SocieTy for Radiotherapy & Oncology (ESTRO), the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), the Italian Association for Radiation Oncology (AIRO), and the Italian Association for Radiobiology (AIRB). He is co-Chair of the BWP of the Radiation Oncology group (ROG) of EORTC since 2015, Counselor of the Tuscany-Umbria section of AIRO (2013-2015), Counselor of the no-profit Florence Foundation for Radiation Oncology (FFRO) 2013-2018, and co-Chair of the BWP of AIRO (2014-2016).
