Manlio Vinciguerra, PhD

Dr. Vinciguerra career in science began in 1998 as an Erasmus student (EU program) at St. Radboud University Hospital, Nijmegen (The Netherlands). In 2001, he joined the Department of Internal Medicine, University of Geneva (Switzerland), where he obtained his PhD in 2004. In 2005 he joined as a post-doc the Department of Cell Physiology and Metabolism, University of Geneva (Switzerland). In 2008, supported by an interdisciplinary fellowship (EIPOD) he undertook a second post-doctoral project at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), between Heidelberg (Germany) and Monterotondo (Italy). In 2012, he became Senior Lecturer and Principal Investigator at the UCL Institute for Liver and Digestive Health, Royal Free Hospital, London, UK. Since 2016 he serves as Principal Investigator and leads the Epigenetics, Metabolism and Aging (EMA) unit within Centre for Translational Medicine (CTM), International Clinical Research Centre (ICRC), Brno, Czech Republic. Other positions include the following: visiting Professor at USC (LA, USA), TTU (Tallinnn, Estonia), School of Medicine of Tottori (Yonago, Japan), IRCCS “Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza" (San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy). He is member of numerous scientific respected societies and obtained funding from multiple national and European grant agencies. Dr. Vinciguerra has authored >110 scientific articles in prestigious journals (Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Nature Communications, Cell Metabolism etc) and 5 book chapters. His present interests include epigenetics of liver cancer, nutrition and aging.
