Dr. Pataje G.S. Prasanna is Program Director of National Cancer Institute. He received his doctorate in Radiobiology for his work on radiation-induced normal tissue injury and radiation protection from the Mangalore University, India. Most recently he worked as a Research Biologist at AFRRI, serving as a Principal Investigator of Department of Defense in radiation biology and related fields in intramural and extramural research projects. He has participated in several national and international research efforts in biological dosimetry by cytogenetics and harmonization of cytogenetic biodosimetry methods for radiation dose assessment with an emphasis on mass casualties. He also served as a consultant to the International Atomic Energy Agency in cytogenetic biodosimetry. He joined NCI in 2009 and currently oversees a portfolio of grants, which study radiation-induced normal tissue injury, radiation protection, radioimmunotherapy, nanotechnology, and boron-neutron capture therapy.
