Howard B. Lieberman, PhD

Dr. Howard B. Lieberman is Professor of Radiation Oncology in the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and Professor of Environmental Health Sciences in the Mailman School of Public Health at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He is also Director of the Radiation Research Shared Resource of the Columbia University Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Lieberman received a BS degree from Brooklyn College in Biology and Psychology, and a PhD from Rutgers University in Microbiology. He did post-doctoral work at Yale University. Dr. Lieberman’s research focuses on molecular mechanisms of radiation-induced DNA damage and repair, carcinogenesis, and the development of novel precision cancer biomarkers and targets for anti-cancer therapy, particularly with respect to prostate cancer.
