Dr. Chavez is a medical oncologist in the Lymphoma Section of the Department of Malignant Hematology at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncologic Sciences at the University of South Florida. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Research at the University of South Florida. He received his clinical training in Internal Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo, New York and completed his Medical Oncology fellowship at the University of South Florida/Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Chavez is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. His focus of clinical and research interest are on lymphoid malignancies, specifically aggressive B-cell lymphomas, virally-related lymphoid malignancies and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He is currently principal investigator and co- investigator in several cellular based immunotherapies, including chimeric antigen receptor therapy (CART) in lymphoid malignancies and leukemia.
