Multimodal action of ONECUT2 in driving neuroendocrine prostate cancer

Salma Kaochar, Nicholas Mitsiades

Abstract

Prostate cancer (PC) is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men (behind lung cancer), being responsible for 29,430 deaths annually (per 2018 estimates of the American Cancer Society). The vast majority of PCs (>95%) arise as adenocarcinomas, which are frequently dependent (at least initially) on the androgen receptor (AR) axis for their growth and express AR target genes, such as KLK3 (PSA).
