This Focused Issue on “Synergy in Action: Novel Approaches to Combining Radiation Therapy and Immunotherapy” is edited by Dr. Arya Amini and Dr. Tyler Robin.

Dr. Arya Amini
Department of Radiation Oncology, City of Hope National Medical Center, Duarte, CA, USA

Dr. Amini is an assistant clinical professor of radiation oncology at City of Hope National Medical Center located in Southern California. His clinical and research focus is in lung and head and neck cancer, in addition to the incorporation of novel radiation techniques such as stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) with current systemic therapies including immunotherapy. Through his active research work he has published over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts including invited book chapters and review articles. He has presented at multiple national conferences and has received now multiple institutional grants to fund his research. Dr. Amini is actively involved in multiple national cooperative groups and societies including the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), the American Radium Society (ARS), and the American College of Radiology (ACR). Currently, he has several ongoing prospective single institutional studies with current efforts to open a national trial. Dr. Amini’s ultimate academic career goals are to continue to gain clinical experience and knowledge to provide up to date and state of the art care for his cancer patients.

Dr. Tyler Robin
Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Colorado School of Medicine, Aurora, Colorado, USA

Dr. Tyler Robin is an assistant professor of radiation oncology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, with specialization in genitourinary and gynecologic cancers, brachytherapy, Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS). Dr. Robin’s research interests include exploring the use of advanced radiation technologies to improve cancer outcomes and quality of life, understanding disparities in cancer outcomes and access to care, and global oncology. He has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles and textbook chapters on these topics.
